Our clients

Owner-managed Manx businesses.

Mostly businesses with between two and fifty staff. What our clients have in common isn't their sector - it's how they want to work with an accountant.

01

Owner-managed businesses

The core of our work.

Most of our clients are owner-managed - businesses where the person who started it is still running it, or where it's passed to the next generation but the ownership is still close to the work.

These firms have specific needs that are different from corporate clients: tax planning that considers personal as well as company position, dividend strategy, succession planning, and the rhythm of advice that small business owners need rather than what large companies want.

Sectors we know well: Professional services · Property & construction · Retail, hospitality & consumer · Trades, contractors & light manufacturing.

If your sector isn't on the list, it doesn't mean we can't help - we'll be honest about whether we're the right fit before we start.

The clients we work best with want one accountant they can call. Not a portal, not an account manager - the same person, year after year.

02

Family firms

Multi-generation businesses with their own dynamics.

A family firm isn't just a small firm with relatives in it. The dynamics are different - how to structure ownership across generations, how to bring family members in or move them out, how to plan for the transition without breaking the business.

We've worked with family firms across two and three generations, and the work is some of the most satisfying we do.

03

Expanding small businesses

Businesses outgrowing their first accountant.

We see this often: a business starts with a sole-practitioner accountant who suited the first phase, and outgrows the relationship somewhere between five and twenty staff. The work becomes more complex, the questions get harder, and the firm needs an accountant who's been there before. If that's where you are, we're worth a conversation.

Signs your firm is at this stage

  • Year-end takes longer each time, with more back-and-forth in the closing weeks
  • The questions are getting harder than your current accountant comfortably answers
  • You're rebuilding the same conversations across multiple advisers
  • You've outgrown what a sole practitioner can hold in their head
