Oak & Stone to sponsor the Wexbridge Show for a tenth year

We are very pleased to confirm that Oak & Stone will be headline sponsor of the Wexbridge Show on Saturday 18 July - our tenth consecutive year supporting the town's biggest day out. The show returns to the Riverside Meadows with the main ring, livestock classes, the horticultural tent and, by popular demand, the dog show that very nearly required a steward's inquiry last year.

Our sponsorship this year funds the children's arena programme in full, which means every school in the district can take part in the schools' tug-of-war and the junior gymkhana at no cost to families. Margaret, who has judged the Victoria sponge class for longer than she will let us print, will be back in the horticultural tent on the day.

Why does an estate agency sponsor a country show? The honest answer is that this town has supported our firm since 1987, and a business that earns its living from a community ought to put something back into it. The show committee are volunteers, the margins are thin, and the day matters to Wexbridge in ways that are hard to measure and easy to feel.

You will find our team at the Oak & Stone marquee beside the main ring, with shade, cold drinks and absolutely no obligation to talk about houses - although if you want a quiet word about a valuation between the heavy horses and the brass band, we will not refuse. Children's show guides will be available on the stand free of charge.

Tickets go on sale from 1 May through the show's website and from the usual outlets on the high street, with under-12s free as always. We look forward to seeing the town there - and to defending our title in the inter-business tug-of-war, about which Daniel remains quietly confident.
