Website terms

These terms cover your use of this website.
The website is run by OLXR Limited, a company registered in the Isle of Man (company number 133388C), with its registered office at 61 Port-E-Chee Avenue, Douglas, IM2 5EU, Isle of Man. OLXR is run by me, Owen Jones - where these terms say “I” or “me”, they mean OLXR Limited.
By using the website, you agree to these terms.
Using this website
You’re welcome to browse, read, and use the forms to get in touch. Please don’t:
- Use the site for anything unlawful, or in a way that could harm it or the people who use it
- Try to break into, overload or disrupt the site, or get around its security checks
- Copy large amounts of the site automatically, for example with scrapers or bots
- Send spam, or anything misleading or offensive, through the forms
If someone misuses the site, I may block their access.
Content and copyright
The words, illustrations, designs and code on this site belong to OLXR, unless they’re marked as someone else’s.
Sharing is welcome. You can share links to any page, and quote short extracts from the articles, as long as you credit OLXR and link back to the original. Please don’t republish whole articles, or present the content as your own, without asking first.
The OLXR name and logo, and the names and logos of my products - manx.directory, RepeatPosts and KEEP.FIT - aren’t to be used in a way that suggests a connection to me that doesn’t exist. Other companies’ names, logos and badges - such as the AWS certification badge - belong to their owners.
Information, not advice
The articles, guides and answers on this site are my honest, general view, written to be useful. But they can’t take account of your particular business, so they aren’t tailored advice - please don’t rely on them alone for important decisions.
Examples on the site, such as demo websites and sample reports, are there to show what’s possible. They’re illustrations, not promises of particular results.
I keep the site accurate and up to date, but things change, and I can’t guarantee every detail is correct at every moment. If you spot something wrong, please let me know.
The Free Website Check
The Free Website Check really is free, and there’s no obligation to buy anything afterwards.
- It’s my opinion of your website as it was when I looked at it, based on what any visitor can see. It isn’t a guarantee of results, and it doesn’t replace a full technical or security audit.
- The suggestions are yours to use however you like - yourself, with your own web developer, or with me.
- I can only check websites you’re responsible for, or have permission to ask about.
- I may decline a request - for example if I’m fully booked, or the site isn’t a good fit for this kind of check - and I’ll tell you if so.
I aim to send your results within 7 days, but it’s a free service, so timing isn’t guaranteed.
Working together
These terms are only about using the website. If we work together - on a managed website, bespoke software or anything else - that work is covered by its own written agreement, which we’ll both agree before anything starts. Where that agreement and these terms differ, the agreement wins.
Prices and plans described on the site are a guide to what I offer and may change. The price for your work is the one in your written plan or proposal.
Links to other websites
The site links to other websites - my products, tools I mention, and sources I think are useful. I don’t control them and I’m not responsible for their content, so they have their own terms and privacy policies. A link isn’t an endorsement unless I say so.
Availability
I work to keep this site fast and available, but I can’t promise it will always be online or free of errors. I may change, update or take down parts of it at any time.
My liability
The website and the Free Website Check are provided free of charge, so I’m not responsible for any loss that comes from relying on them - including lost profits, lost business or lost data - or from the site being unavailable.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Your privacy
How I handle your personal data is explained in the privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and the version on this page is the one that applies.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Isle of Man, and the courts of the Isle of Man can deal with any dispute about them. If you live elsewhere, this doesn’t take away any rights your local law gives you.
If something’s wrong, please talk to me first - most things can be sorted out with a conversation.
