Engagement Models

Three ways to work with OLXR - choose the structure that fits your project.

Three Ways to Work With OLXR

Every client engagement is different. Some clients need a senior engineer alongside their existing team for a defined period. Some have a specific project they want scoped, priced, and delivered with a clear total cost. Some have an early-stage product idea and need a technical partner willing to invest alongside them. We have structured three engagement models to fit these different situations.

The right model depends on how clearly your requirements are defined, how much flexibility you need on scope, your budget structure, and what kind of ongoing relationship you are looking for. If you are not sure which model fits, the initial conversation will usually make it clear - and we will tell you honestly if a different approach would serve you better.

Hire Us

Day rate engagement for ongoing or evolving work. You buy our time, we apply it to your project, and you have full visibility of what is being worked on and what it costs. There are no long-term contracts, no minimum commitments beyond a sensible initial engagement, and no surprises on the invoice.

This model works best when your requirements are likely to evolve as the project progresses, when you need additional senior engineering capacity alongside your existing team, or when you want ongoing maintenance and feature development after an initial build. It is also the right model for team augmentation - where you need a senior engineer working as part of your team rather than delivering a defined scope independently.

  • Best for: ongoing development, team augmentation, evolving requirements, post-launch maintenance
  • Cost structure: day rate, invoiced monthly against tracked time
  • Commitment: flexible, no long-term lock-in

Bespoke Projects

Fixed-scope, fixed-price delivery for projects with clearly defined requirements. We invest significant time in the scoping phase to understand exactly what you need, break it into phases and features, and provide a detailed estimate you can budget against. Once scoped and agreed, we deliver against that estimate with defined milestones and regular progress updates.

This model works best when you have a specific outcome you need delivered and you want certainty on the total cost before committing. It requires more upfront investment in the scoping process - but that investment produces a clear specification, a realistic timeline, and a price that reflects what the work actually involves rather than a guess.

  • Best for: new builds, system replacements, complex integrations, defined deliverables
  • Cost structure: fixed price agreed upfront, paid in milestones
  • Commitment: defined project scope with clear start and end

Partnerships

For the right early-stage products, we reduce our development costs in exchange for equity or revenue share. We become a genuine technical co-founder rather than a contractor - invested in the product's success, involved in product decisions, and committed to the long-term rather than a one-off engagement.

This model is not right for every project, and we are selective about the partnerships we take on because we are investing real time and expertise. We look for founders who are fully committed to the business side, products with clear market potential, and situations where our technical involvement would make a genuine difference to the outcome.

  • Best for: early-stage startups, founders with strong vision and limited initial budget
  • Cost structure: reduced fees in exchange for equity or revenue share
  • Commitment: long-term, we become part of the journey
