Built for Long-Term Growth

We build subscription-based software platforms for startups and growing businesses across the UK and Isle of Man. Whether you are launching your first product, productising an internal tool, or scaling an existing platform that has outgrown its foundations, we design and deliver SaaS applications built for long-term growth.

Building a SaaS platform is not the same as building a website or a simple web application. Multi-tenancy, subscription billing, onboarding flows, usage metering, and role-based access are all architectural concerns that need to be addressed from day one - not bolted on later when the platform is already under load. Getting those decisions right at the start determines how much the next five years of development costs.

Every platform we build is designed and delivered personally by Owen Jones, OLXR's founder and lead engineer, with over a decade of experience building production-grade SaaS systems. You work directly with the person making the architectural decisions - not a project manager relaying information to a developer you never speak to.

Who This Is For

Founders with a validated idea who need a technical partner to build their product properly from the start
Businesses with an internal tool that has commercial potential as a standalone product
Startups that need a scalable platform built on solid foundations - not a prototype that needs rebuilding after traction
Companies launching a subscription-based product and needing billing, onboarding, and user management built in from day one
Existing SaaS businesses whose platform has grown beyond its original architecture and needs rebuilding or extending
Businesses that want to launch a SaaS product but need a technical partner to own the architecture and delivery end to end

Our Approach

1
Understand the Product, Not Just the Features

We start every SaaS project by understanding what your product actually needs to do for its users - not just the feature list. That means understanding your target customer, their workflow, and what success looks like for them before we make any architectural decisions. A SaaS platform built around a deep understanding of user behaviour performs better and retains users longer than one built around a specification document.

2
Architect for Scale from Day One

Multi-tenancy, data isolation, billing logic, and background processing are not features you add later - they are architectural foundations that need to be right from the start. We design your platform with scale in mind even before your first paying customer, because the cost of rebuilding a poorly architected SaaS platform once it has traction is orders of magnitude higher than getting it right initially. Every decision in the first two weeks of a project determines how much the next five years cost.

3
Iterate After Launch

Launch is not the end of the project - it is the beginning of the most important phase. We work with you after your platform goes live to prioritise what comes next based on what you learn from real users. Feature priorities change once real people start using a product, and we build our engagement with you around that reality rather than a fixed scope that was defined before anyone had seen the product.

Why Choose OLXR

There is no shortage of developers who will build you a SaaS platform. What is rarer is an engineer who understands the specific architectural challenges of SaaS - multi-tenancy, billing logic, data isolation, usage metering - and has delivered production systems that handle them correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

We implement multi-tenancy at both the database and application layer. The right approach depends on your compliance requirements, performance expectations, and the nature of your data. We typically use a shared database with tenant-based row isolation for most SaaS platforms, but can implement schema-per-tenant or database-per-tenant where the requirements justify it. We will recommend the right approach for your specific product during the discovery phase.

Yes - Stripe is our default payment integration for SaaS platforms and we have extensive experience with its subscription APIs. We handle plans, trials, upgrades, downgrades, proration, webhooks, failed payment recovery, and invoicing. We have also integrated GoCardless for direct debit billing where that is a better fit for the customer base.

They will - and that is normal. We work iteratively and keep scope flexible within agreed boundaries. Any significant changes are discussed openly with a clear view of what they mean for timeline and cost before we proceed. We would rather have that conversation early than absorb changes silently and deliver something over budget and behind schedule.

We can, but for straightforward marketing sites a platform like Webflow or WordPress is often more cost-effective and gives your marketing team more autonomy. We focus on the application itself and are happy to advise on the best approach for your public-facing site. If your marketing site needs to integrate tightly with the platform - for example, with a shared authentication layer or dynamic content - we will handle that integration.

A focused MVP with a defined core feature set can be production-ready in 8-12 weeks. A full-featured platform with complex billing logic, multi-tenancy, team management, and integrations typically takes 4-6 months. The most important factor is scope discipline - the more focused the initial build, the faster you get to real users and real feedback.

Yes. We provide long-term support, maintenance, performance monitoring, security updates, and feature development after launch. SaaS platforms are not projects with an end date - they are products that evolve continuously, and we structure our post-launch engagement around that reality.
