Your Industry Not in Our Directory?

We work with most professional, service, and small commercial businesses through Presence, bespoke development, and consultancy. The Industries directory shows the sectors where we have the deepest content, not the only places we work.

Why we focus on a small number of industries

OLXR builds dedicated pages for industries where we have the deepest sector knowledge - solicitors, accountants, financial advisers, trust and corporate services, and a small number of others. Each of those pages takes substantial work to write properly, with regulatory awareness and operational understanding that comes from doing the work.

That focus does not mean we only work with those industries. Our recent client work spans more sectors than the directory implies - bespoke web applications, custom software, mobile apps, and integrations translate across most industries. The reason for sector-specific pages is depth in a few places rather than a wide spread of shallow content.

If your business is in an industry that is not in our directory, the technical capabilities still apply. The conversation is just slightly different - we will spend more time understanding your specific operational context and less time citing sector-specific frameworks we already know.

What to expect from a first conversation

The starting point is a 30-minute call with Owen, the founder and lead engineer at OLXR. The conversation is genuinely exploratory rather than a sales process - the goal is to understand whether OLXR is a fit for what you need, not to push you toward an engagement.

Step 1

Tell us about your business and the problem

What does your business do, what are you trying to build or solve, what does success look like, what constraints matter (timeline, budget, regulatory, technical). A relaxed conversation - share whatever feels relevant.

Step 2

Honest assessment of fit

We will tell you whether we think OLXR is the right partner, whether the work is well-scoped or needs more discovery, what the realistic shape of an engagement looks like, and how long it would take. If we are not the right fit, we will say so and where possible suggest who might be.

Step 3

If we proceed, a clear next step

Depending on the work, the next step might be a paid discovery engagement, a fixed-scope proposal, an hourly consultancy arrangement, or a longer kick-off conversation. There is no contract pressure on the first call - the conversation either leads somewhere useful or it doesn't.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Pricing is based on the work, not on whether your industry has a dedicated page on our site. Hourly and day rates are the same; bespoke project pricing is based on scope and complexity, not sector. Initial discovery may take slightly longer if we are learning the operational shape of your sector for the first time - that time is part of the project, not a premium added on top.

Often a little longer than for a sector we already know well, but typically not significantly. Most operational patterns translate across industries - workflows, data models, integrations, user roles - and the sector-specific bits usually emerge in one or two focused conversations. For projects with substantial regulatory or domain complexity, we may suggest a paid discovery engagement before committing to fixed scope. This is the same approach we take for sectors with deep regulatory frameworks.

No - just the operational reality of your business. You know your sector; we know how to build software. The first conversation is mostly about what you do, what is not working, and what success would look like. If your sector has specific terminology, regulation, or external dependencies we should be aware of, mention them - but you do not need to brief us in advance.

That is normal - we have not built sector-specific pages for every regulatory framework that exists. Where regulation matters to the build, we read the relevant guidance, work with your compliance contact (internal or external), and structure the software so that compliance is supported rather than undermined by the technical implementation. We are not compliance specialists ourselves; the assumption is that you or your advisors are responsible for the substantive compliance assessment, and we are responsible for not making it harder.
