OLXR has launched a new service line: OLXR Presence - a managed website and online presence service designed for small professional and service businesses across the UK and Isle of Man.

Presence is a structurally different offering to the bespoke software work OLXR has historically provided. It is a productised retainer rather than a project-based engagement - a single monthly fee that covers the build, hosting, ongoing improvement, monthly reporting, and senior engineer accountability for the result. The intent is to give small firms a way to fix their online presence without managing another months-long agency project.

The Problem We Are Addressing

Most small professional and service businesses - accountants, law firms, financial advisers, consultancies, surveyors, clinics - know their online presence matters. Most are doing almost nothing about it.

The pattern is familiar: a website built five or six years ago by a local agency, still running on WordPress, last updated when someone remembered to. No analytics worth reading. No SEO strategy. No social presence. No one inside the firm accountable for whether any of it is generating new business.

The blocker is rarely budget. These firms have budgets. The blocker is friction. Getting a new website built means another months-long agency project, another upfront invoice, another cycle that ends with no one managing what was built. It is a project, not a process. And once the project ends, the asset slowly outdates until the cycle starts again in five years.

OLXR Presence is built to break that cycle.

How It Works

Presence is delivered as a managed service on a single monthly fee. Every client gets a bespoke website built on OLXR's stack - ASP.NET Core hosted on AWS, not WordPress and not a shared template - plus an ongoing relationship with a senior engineer who actively manages and improves the site month by month.

The service includes:

  1. A bespoke website built on enterprise infrastructure
  2. Monthly performance and SEO reporting drawn from Google Search Console and Analytics
  3. AI-assisted blog drafts to make SEO content realistic for a busy practice
  4. Branded social media graphics through RepeatPosts, OLXR's social graphics platform
  5. Ongoing updates and minor changes as part of the relationship
  6. Direct access to Owen Jones, OLXR's founder and lead engineer, as the accountable senior engineer

There are three tiers - Foundation, Growth, and Accelerate - covering everything from a managed standard website through to active development capacity reserved each month. Full pricing is published on the Presence page.

Why Now

The decision to launch a productised service alongside OLXR's bespoke project work was deliberate, and the timing was structural rather than opportunistic.

Bespoke software engagements are well-suited to clients with significant budgets and specific requirements - businesses that need substantial custom systems built. They are less well-suited to small firms whose actual need is a properly-managed online presence. For those firms, the choice today is largely between three poor options: a one-off agency build that is abandoned at launch, a DIY platform like Squarespace or Wix that requires the firm to build and manage the site itself, or doing nothing and watching the existing site age. None of these options serve small professional firms well.

A managed bespoke website service at this price point would not have been economically viable five years ago. The labour cost of building a bespoke site - from scratch, by a senior engineer, on a real software stack - was simply too high to support a £399/month retainer model. That has changed, and the change is structural rather than incremental.

Modern AI tooling, particularly agentic coding workflows, has materially altered the economics of building production software. Tasks that used to consume meaningful engineering time now take a fraction of it: scaffolding components, writing tests, generating boilerplate, drafting content, configuring infrastructure, and producing reports. None of this replaces the senior engineering judgement that bespoke software requires - architecture decisions, design trade-offs, security posture, integration design, and accountability for the result still need a human who knows what they are doing. But the pure execution time around those decisions has compressed significantly.

The practical effect is that a single senior engineer can now deliver bespoke work that previously would have required a small team. This is what makes Presence possible. The same engineering effort that used to support five or six bespoke projects per year can now support managed retainers for multiple clients on parallel tracks - while keeping a senior engineer accountable for each one.

OLXR has been deliberate about embedding AI tooling into its delivery model. Every Presence engagement uses the same agentic workflows OLXR uses on bespoke client work - the practices that make AI-augmented delivery genuinely productive rather than just faster boilerplate. The result is a service that is both individually bespoke and operationally efficient. The audience is genuinely underserved: most managed website services in the market today are still structured around either WordPress agencies or DIY platforms. Few are built from the ground up around AI-augmented bespoke delivery. Presence is.

What Makes This Different

Three structural choices distinguish Presence from a typical agency website service.

First, it is built on a real software stack, not WordPress. Every Presence site is a bespoke ASP.NET Core application hosted on AWS. This avoids the ongoing plugin maintenance and security update cycle that WordPress sites typically need, and means new features can be developed properly when required, rather than retrofitted through plugins or themes.

Second, it is a managed service, not a project. Most agencies sell a project: discovery, build, launch, walk away. Presence is structured as a 12-month relationship with rolling monthly continuation after that, focused on ongoing improvement rather than a one-off transaction. The cost model reflects this - a smaller setup fee plus a monthly retainer, rather than a large upfront invoice with nothing afterwards.

Third, a senior engineer is accountable for the result. Every Presence client is supported directly by Owen, not delegated to junior staff or routed through a ticket queue. The same person who builds the site manages it, reports on it, and answers questions about it.

Who It Is For

Presence is built for small professional and service businesses with between two and twenty employees - the kind of firm that has a real reputation, a real client base, and a website that has not kept pace with either. Typical sectors include accountancy, law, financial advisory, consultancy, surveying, and small clinical practices.

It is not aimed at firms that are building primarily transactional websites, or businesses where the website is the product. For those needs, OLXR's bespoke software services remain the right starting point.

Next Steps

The Presence page covers the full proposition - what is included at each tier, pricing, the comparison to traditional agency engagements, the process from first conversation to live site, and answers to the questions that come up most often.

The first step is always a conversation. A 30-minute scoping call is free, with no commitment, and we will tell you clearly if Presence is not the right fit for your firm.
